This big band season will be simplified by recovered back and vanquished shoe problems. Pain is dumb.
I arrived before the drummer. That’s not a good sign. Pro drummer would have been here early to prepare easily. Also, imagine yourself, musician or not, setting up a drum set after everyone has already cluttered the area with their shit (in the middle of a big band). Musicians are notorious for leaving their shit all over the stage. I’m talking about instrument cases, water bottles, iPads, jackets, book bags, cables, guitars, books and other drama items.
I hope the new drummer is good. I hope he does as many cool things to help the big band as Phil did. New guy has a musician page worse than mine. Drummer isn’t here yet and it’s a first rehearsal.
I’m scared for our beats.
🔁 Road Images:
Traffic was tolerable. Easy with a slow vehicle and a two-car length following distance. Desperate drivers hate my two-car following distance. I hate their desperate practices in futility. New semester, but same shit on the roads.

🛄 Gear
I’m glad to see the same bass amplifier is here. I don’t expect any amplifier drama this year. We had issues in that past, but all is well now. (Thanks Mike B!) So far, it looks like I’m the only bass player. If an acoustic bass player shows up, I will show them how to use a loud stage amplifier as I have in the past. 🚻 Instruments
No fresh images this time. I'll get into a flow eventually.
I'm using my Fender Jazz Bass Deluxe because I am going to play deluxe jazz.
⏯ Music
I didn't record the rehearsal. One of my priorities this season is to refine my audio recording process. My video technique of the past if not reliable anymore.
A few latin tunes, a funk tune, and a swing tune. We havn't settled on music yet. Most of it will be new, with a few scattered familiar tunes. I hope we start all new tunes. I'm not interested in hearing another drummer butcher the songs we performed with Phil... or I'll pay him to comeback for those tunes... not sure.
