U.S. Movie attendance has dropped to the lowest level in 24 years.
I'm trying to remember when the last time my wife and I went to a movie theater. Seems like around 10 years ago.
High ticket prices, outrageous concession prices, noisy people, cell phone use and poor movie selections are among the reasons we've stayed away.
I doubt we will ever go again.
The ongoing poking from Hollywood types at the values of mainstream America has really rubbed us the wrong way too. Politics and entertainment shouldn't mix.
Watching movies at home is the growing American trend. Streaming options abound. Besides paying for a high speed Internet connection, our only other expenses are the TV and the electricity to run it. We did buy Roku sticks for each of our TV's too.
Homemade popcorn and drinks are cheap, seating options are plentiful and comfortable and noise annoyances are eliminated.
The last movie we watched was "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri." Great movie. Highly recommend. Funny as hell.
If we run across a bad movie (and there are so many) we dump it and move on, never looking back to a dinosaur industry of the traditional movie theater.
