99% from my immediate neighborhood in my city. It's all on the curbs along the streets for trash and recycling truck pickup. Imagine both small and enormous 90 foot long piles of plastics and paper separated in clear bags I can see in. Also imagine a third section of black trash bags. I just walk around my area depending on the pickup zones for 1-2 hours on average, 3-4 nights a week. A long walk may be 3 hours. Sometimes I don't find much and sometimes I find thousands of dollars worth. It all averages out. The zones are literally all around my apartment within +/-10 blocks of so up/down and a few blocks left and right. The only thing I bring is a backpack, screwdriver, and my cell phone for light.
