First off, I appreciate the engagement and tips for getting better. That's the priority. I don't have access to all of those things now, but I'm keen on those types of natural solutions. Thank you.
Bear with me on this reply because I'm tired and not as sharp as usual.
May I ask where your expertise stems from?
I'm sure you understand that not everyone is perfectly in tune with the rapidly developing news about what treatment options may or may not be working, especially when someone is miserable in bed (sleeping most of the days) with severe symptoms for whatever illness it may be. It seems like the most of the world is learning more every day, right?
For example, newer findings are making their way onto the internet today about the risks of airborne transmission of the virus, so your stance that masks are 0% effective for prevention may already be outdated. Did you notice that yet? An N95 mask protects you from 95% of airborne vapors.
Regardless, more robust research and data rolls in daily, so prior confidence in any theory at this stage doesn't necessarily mean that it is or was accurate, and being married to one school of thought could be steering people towards more risk. There are a lot of moving targets, and we'll have plenty more surprises.
As for new treatments, let's hope that 3-pronged cure those doctors are touting gets legs. Did you notice that success was measured by "no deaths"? That might not equate to a cure, but preventing deaths is paramount. Right now, I think it's a small sample size and slightly aggressive to be recommending it as a quick cure, reserving the right to be wrong if you may have the credentials. It's certainly promising, but I think a bit more widespread testing is needed first before institutions start openly prescribing it as a front line. I'm not sure that many patients can request their own treatment cocktail at this time, or if the doctors would feel comfortable trying that out on its own just yet.
For me, I don't see the value of trying to get tested if my condition improves. It's a VERY difficult process here. For example, my cousin recently had symptoms, went to the hospital, got a piece of paper saying she presented COVID-19 symptoms, and was sent home without a test. She was given instructions to quarantine for 14 days. She then tried to get tested elsewhere, showing them the paper from the hospital saying she HAD symptoms, and was DENIED again. What did she gain other than exposing herself and others twice for nothing but a piece of paper? Not worth the risk in my view.
Tons of people wait and wait on line, but can't even get tests and get turned back. It's all over the news here. For now, I think that as long as my breathing is stable enough (and asthma subsides with the steroid inhaler), it's better to stay focused on resting and healing where I'm comfortable. A test feels like a checked box, unless my symptoms command that I seek treatment and require one for treatment. My neighbor, a nurse in tune with this, approved the course of action as the logical thing to do given the extreme backlog here. If I lived in a smaller area, it'd probably be easier to get tested once I felt well enough to leave. My area is a mecca of COVID-19 so it's not always apples to apples with what someone elsewhere things is ideal or appropriate. The nurse also just told me that she hears half of our building coughing lately at all hours with her shifts.
Ironically your comment that my post went off the rails/was pretty click-baity is where your comment went way off the rails. It takes some balls to come out and criticize someone you don't know (and their efforts) when they're down. I understand that you're inherently a skeptic, but damn man, there's a time and a place to try to undermine/disqualify sincerity and effort. No need to throw stones because of biased opinion, unless you could elaborate on the value you were attempting to add in the process. It seemed pretty destructive and small in focus from most ways you slice it.
Technically, I could have plenty of other viruses that just so happen to have the exact symptoms of COVID-19, where a city-wide breakout is swelling. I could also be a woman using a fake persona. I don't want COVID-19, but the writing seems pretty clear on the wall. My city is overrun with it, and I haven't gotten severely sick in at least 5 years (and this is the first time with breathing issues and lung fatigue), so I figured I'd take a highly educated guess since I'm experiencing it here in my reality. I tried having another phone call tonight and was still winded while talking, but sure, it could be any of 12 other random infections, despite the timeline of symptoms matched standard curves on the money.
....But, no I haven't been tested with scientific evidence to present, and I came right out with that because I felt it'd be a waste of time:
This doesn't make my post a ruse or ploy. I just wanted to vent and get some practical awareness out there, plus some emotional support. During these times, we can practice some more sensitivity to the bigger picture of helping others get through tough times and not being so critical with such negative assumptions. Everyone else seemed to keep things positive. You were the only one. Why?
If you don't agree with how something jives, please consider that it may be based on personal opinion/bias, and not always everyone's reality.
As for the socio-economics side of things, I'm not an expert in that arena, but respect your opinion.
