Half-assed is a rather condescending way to put it. Many people have been holding on for years, literally, as early adopters, and simply need to put time into real life, not a pipe dream. Sometimes gains need to be prioritized for non-adopter life and there's absolutely no shame in that -- and people can be at peace with different priorities.
