“We seldom realize, for example that our most private thoughts and emotions are not actually our own. For we think in terms of languages and images which we did not invent, but which were given to us by our society.” -Alan Watts
Are we really fucking safe?
It doesn’t matter if you’re stuck in the contract that is marriage, a prison, at work, at school or in your long chair getting all bronzed up at the beach.
We’re all in the same shit. All of us.
No one is immune to the madness of a world ruled by faulty human beings.
I assume there’s some sort of relief that comes from living in an illusion.
What you don’t know can’t hurt you, can it?
Ignorance is bliss. Until the bliss of living in comforting lies wears off.
We’re only as safe as our mind makes us believe we are.
Isn’t ironic how we trust blindly the system in which we live in, yet we have an increasingly difficult time to trust perhaps our spouse or our friends?
What’s more is that we don’t even know all that goes on behind the scenes of this vast, evil and corrupted world. All we know is what our limited filtered vision of life allows us to see.
But there’s an iceberg underneath. One that could perhaps break every faulty belief we desperately cling onto thinking that they are the ultimate truth.
Imagine someone proving you wrong on everything you have always held for true.
I wonder how that would feel. Bitch, shake me to my fucking core and awaken me from this mess I blindly participate in.
What is the Truth anyway? How can there even be one when all that surrounds us is nothing but lies disguised as empty promises.
There’s no such thing as happily ever after. There’s no such thing as “success”. As “safety”. How can we be safe when we willingly follow the masses that are all headed south?
When we’d rather stand with the majority - even if doing so is at the expense of our own ethics, values and personal truth?
We’d rather say fuck you to our own voice and violate our moral codes just to avoid the shame that comes from standing against the so called norm.
