I’ve always said that you can count your real friends on one hand at most. You are absolutely right that making friends as adults is a whole different ball game than as children. Joining clubs/groups , doing hobbies and volunteering are perhaps good ways to meet like minded individuals who could potentially turn into trusted friends one day.
