I am currently not discrete about it but the road to my wealth was a very discrete one.
Other than a few close friends, everyone thought I was your average earning $70,000-$80,000 Chemical engineer.
During the day I was, but I would go home at night and instead of going to my friends house to party or to the bar with my buddies, I would go home and build my online businesses.
I was working like a monster to retire early and only a few people in my life knew. I had a steady plan to retire at 35 but my company grew much faster than I had anticipated.
By last year I was almost at my 30 year goal. I am 5 years ahead of schedule. I decided I don’t need to live like a student anymore. I was making well over $350,000 a year but spending less the $60,000.
I began to allow myself to spend about $150,000. Upgraded in car. Moved to a significantly better apartment.
At that point I was more open about my wealth with my family and friends. It caught many of my friends and family of guard.
I’m still on route to retire at 35 but I’m going to enjoy the way much more.
