In year 3, it was someone’s birthday.
There was a girl called Lydia, who brought a packet of marshmallow sweets to share with everyone.
I went inside the classroom at break to get my water bottle and there I saw the marshmallows.
I took one, thinking no one would notice.
Then I took another… and another.
By the time I finished, I ate 6 and put 7 in my bag.
Then the bell rang. I went into panic mode, I couldn’t put the marshmallows back or they would recognize.
So I sat in class anxiously til the end of the day. We all sang ‘happy birthday’. Then Lydia realized the marshmallow packet was open and went straight to the teacher.
My life had just become hell.
The teacher said, “Everyone, I’m going to check your bags.”
I covered the opening of the bag with my hands. Sadly, the teacher pushed them away and caught me red handed.
She was pissed and started shouting at me, saying I should be extremely embarrassed. I bursted into tears and blamed it on a random, silent kid, but it didn’t work.
The teacher called my child minder, who kindly decided to keep it quiet, if I behave.
Look, I know this isn’t some big shit, but it felt pretty fucking criminal to me.
