Today on the eve of Holi, was driving to distant places across the city roads with friends when suddendly saw the alert on the dashboard fill the car’s tank near IIT Powai.
Now am well aware of the Oil Companies in India have their pumps giving less than expected quantity of oil when buying for 1 litre or say 10 litre or oil of value 100 (rather multiples of 2 or 5) so I just ordered diesel of 9 litres and stood there watching the pump operator filling the oil from reseting the pump to zero.
He tried with all his might to distract me by asking for the exact change if paying by cash and other BS querries (don’t remember as was concentrated on the pump operator filling the tank).
Now when it was time to pay the money, I showed him the card and he just polietly entered the values in the machine. But wait, the actual bill was of INR 586 and the opeartor had put a charge of INR 986 saying the card-machine was showing incorrect reading. I insisted him to get another machine and bill as I got the gut feeling that something was not up to the mark.
So he just cancelled that transaction and used the same machine and put the correct value and guess what the 5 was visible as 5 in stead of 9 as stated by the pump operator. He just gave a Happy Holi Smile and wished him the same!
So in future if we do any card transaction remember to see the value being charged is equal to the actual value we are buying the things worth.
There are people with unethical appraoches behind their courteous smile and poliet behaviour.
