Someone once told me that travelling in a sleeper bus is much better option than travelling in trains. But I never agreed, infact, I never had the oppurtunity to get.a sleeper bus to cover longer distances. I always had the trains as my go to option for any travelling. Easy to access and relax for travelling. But ultimately, life gives me the oppurtunity to enjoy the road travel via a sleeper bus, and the experience does gives me some nice memory.
It is one of the longest distance I ever covered in a sleeper bus. From Chennai to Kavalaikuram. This time our travelling was planned by my nephew, who had been to this area before. After deboarding from Aeroplane, we were supposed to board the bus for our final destination. We had to wait for approx 5hrs in Chennai. But unsure about any visiting point in this newcity made me to wait at the airport. I found that as only good solution considering that the outside temperature is much higher than expected. It was high as 42°C during the day. So I preferred the airport as good option to stay within the AC zone before going back to our road transport office.
The road transport office was at far away place, and we needed to reach there before time. I enquired with the airport cleaning staff , but then I relaize there is a huge language gap between us. People in these areas are more Tamil oriented and they do not have free hands on Hindi. English is the second best option but that too limited to few people. But somehow I discover the Metro route to reach our transport office. Defying all my expectation the transport office was a big compound with numerous busses and a small office to deal with the passenger. I could not click the picture, as it was hot outside and I was dealing with all set of new people in a new India. The challenges were so getting my entertained with pictures is not possible. I am surpeised to see the busses were on time in this area. As scheduled our bus areived at the office gate exact at 2.15 PM. It was suppose to leave the premises at 2.30. It was going to be an exciting time of travelling in a sleeper bus. I was expecting a sleeper birth on the top and sitting chairs at the bottom. But again defying all the odds, I entered into a bus which was completelly designed as sleeper bus. There were no sitting chair. All of seats were arenaged as sleeper birth.
There were curtains on both side and small alley to take us to the end of the bus. The left side has the double occupancy, on the lower aide as well as on the upper side. While the right side of the alley has only single sleeper birth at the lower and at the upper side. Quite conveneient way to make the travelling easy.
The sleeper birth were cleaned and provided with a blanket and a pillow. The birth have a clean seat cover to lay your back properly. I felt reaxed laying on the side birth. I was allotted the side birth, so I am of my own and no disturbaces from other. The bus interiors is cleaned and AC is functioning smoothly.
The seats were cozy, but the some sharp turning may shake you well inside the bus. It was my first ever experince and while I was enjoying it i also try to compare the ride with that of the train. It was not much relaxing as it was shaky or it was the driver fault. But inside the bu I felt completelly safe and relaxed with the streching area. The attendants were good and cooperative. They make the travellors wake to get down at the stop. The interrior were nicely illumintaed with LED lights that gives a cozy vibes at night.
In good faith - Peace!!
