No indian marriages is completed without Gold ornaments. Gold holds immense cultural, spiritual, and financial significance in indian marriages. It represents Goddess Lakshmi (wealth and prosperity), offers a crucial financial safety net for the bride, and serves as an important generational heirloom. Recently, when our esteemed prime minister asked Indian to buy less Gold, we were in complete chaos as we had a marriage at our home. And without spending on Gold marriages is incomplete. So we went to market with limited choice, but at the end we end up spending heavenly.
India is the world's second largest gold buyer. Our Prime Minister asked citizens to buy less gold to protect India’s foreign exchange reserves and stabilize the rupee amid the West Asia crisis. Because India imports almost all of its gold, mass purchases require huge amounts of US dollars, which weakens the rupee and drains national reserves. This might have created a doubts in many people mind but not for those who wanted to spend on gold to make the lifetime occasion so special. When we reached the jewellery shop we were in state of confusion if we buy less Gold just for the formality or to make it grand. Once we step into the show room and started looking for differrnt ornament. We went on to buy Gold worth over 20Lacs INR.
It was my nephew wedding in coming months and his parent does not want to leave any stone unturned. He took me the shop to make certain choices. And at the end we ended up with various jewellery. The urge to buy gold is hard to resist because it acts as both a reliable financial safeguard against inflation and a deeply rooted cultural tradition. From necklace to bangles to earrings to rings to many others. Each of them were beautifully crafted and designed.
They look stunning, but seeing so many jewellery I do wonder, when the bride would wear all those. There is always a risk involved when it comes to Gold. And many people like to avoid wearing them in public. Anyhow, our Gold shopping ended up with exuberant spending. Hope it make the occasion much special for the would be couple.
In good faith - Peace!!
