The body you see is not the real you, you are more than just the body.
Your body only help house your senses of: sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. There's something, actually, someone much more than your body body inside you.
It is your human spirit, that's the real you.
In 1 Peter 3:4, the Bible refers to this inner man.
"But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit..."
The spirit of a man does not die, when a man dies, his spirit lives on, and is still as much the human person he was before dying; he has only lost the ability to function in the physical world, and nothing more.
The spirit man still has the consciousness the man had before dead.
In Luke 16, Christ told a parable of a Rich man and Lazarus. According to Jesus, when Lazarus died, he was taken to the Bosom of Abraham, while the Rich man went to hell, and in there he lifted up his eyes and saw Lazarus. Meaning he could still see. Then he called Abraham saying, "Please help me!" meaning he could still speak.
Abraham answered him, and heard Abraham's voice, implying he was still hearing.
He said he was thirsty, and in agony, and so begged, "Please let Lazarus come and give me a drop of water to cool my thirst". Implying that he could still feel.
All his senses were still there, intact. He could even remember what happened before he died because he said, "Please, send somebody among the dead to go and preach to my brethren." He had 5 brothers alive, so he thought, "Maybe if someone from among the dead goes to them, they would believe him". He still remembered his brethren.
This is to tell you that a man's spirit lives on. And when a man gets born again, it is his human spirit that is born again!
The Bible speaking in 2 Corinthians 5: 17,18 says
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation".
You're more than the body you see; your human spirit is the real you!
