Steem Basic Income is a voluntary social experiment to bring a crowd-funded basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

Cross Posting

One of the new community features is cross-posting. This offers great promise, and even provides a feature set that was on our development roadmap.
If you cross-post into any community, it creates a new post with your comments at the top and then the content of the original post. That post is published into the community. The community receives 5% beneficiary reward, and the original author receives 90% beneficiary rewards.
If you receive a lot of auto-votes, this has the effect of delivering the auto-votes you normally receive to the featured author. When used intentionally, we think this is a great way to reward quality content!

In particular, if you have a sizable SBI balance and don't post a lot, this is a great way to share your SBI votes with others!

Keeping Control

What if you want to share and cross-post others' content without giving away your SBI balance? We are still monitoring posts and comments for #sbi-skip so if you include this in your short note when you cross-post, it will prevent your balance from going to cross-posted content!

Enrollment

If you want to join Steem Basic Income, or to increase the level of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:
Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 unit in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian (except for yourself), it does not have to be a current member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. If we choose to accept SBD without refunding it, you do not receive extra value for it. Enrollments are processed automatically every 144 minutes.
