I'm not going to downvote this. Downvotes should be reserved for content that is defamatory, plagiarised, badly tagged, or that contains/links malware. That being said, I have BIG PROBLEMS with what you have to say.

First of all, if people associate you with certain topics because of a platform that you use, that's their problem, not yours. Clearly you don't feel this way, but I wouldn't want to be friends with someone who jumps to ridiculous conclusions about me simply because of a website that I frequent. Knee-jerk reactions based on second-hand first impressions are no way to approach life. There are more mainstream hit-pieces about new tech platforms being "extremist echo chambers" than I can count, and all of them are circular criticisms - if you smear a platform as "extremist," then you scare everyone who isn't an extremist into avoiding it, especially if you ban extremists from the mainstream platforms. Do you see where I'm going with this?

Second, if you wish to direct new users to specific topics, that is fairly easy to do. Share with them the tags or communities that are particularly relevant. There is a community for 3D printing, one for tabletop games, multiple communities for art and gaming in general, and several dozen tags associated with each. It's easier to control the content you want to see than to control what you want to avoid. I would recommend setting your feed to show either the posts in the communities to which you belong, or the tags which you follow. For instance, as of this comment, I'm subscribed to 19 different communities, though my default feed is from individual creators whom I follow (34 of them).

Finally, when you go off about content that you believe to be "fever dreams," as you say, I have to wonder what you're actually talking about... or if you're just uncritically repeating mainstream talking points. For example, who, precisely, is calling for violence against medical workers? I have seen no such content here on Hive or anywhere, and it sounds like fearmongering to me, or the sort of libelous nonsense one would expect to see from @quackwatch. Furthermore, what makes you think Yaxley-Lennon is a racist? Last I checked, that was the most wearily milquetoast form of defamation with no evidence behind it, and I'm not even a big fan of his, I don't follow him here or anywhere, in fact, I barely have a reason to care. Of course, if you're just using the word "racist" as a stand-in for "wanker," I totally understand... even though I think it's unnecessary.

Blind faith in the mainstream cuts both ways, I'm afraid, as does free thought, and I've written at length about this very idea, if you can bear to read such an article.

Your suggestions in the final section are fine on their own, save for the manual curation of the homepage. That simply isn't feasible, I'm afraid.
