Dear Hive Friends, Today I went to see my parents to say hello. I saw that my father had collected a box of my rosemary for his shop, a butcher's shop, which now uses it a lot during the Christmas holidays. I immediately told him, look at how beautiful rosemary, they sell it expensive you know :), obviously it was just a joke, I have a lot of it, because I cloned dozens of plants from two that I bought years ago and now I have lots of lush rosemary bushes.

Cari amici di Hive, Oggi sono andato a trovare i miei genitori per fare un saluto. Ho visto che mio padre aveva raccolto una cassetta del mio rosmarino per il suo negozio, una macelleria, che ora sotto le feste Natalizie ne usa molto. Subito gli ho detto, guarda quanto bel rosmarino, lo vendono caro lo sai :), ovviamente era solo una battuta, ne ho tantissimo, perché ho clonato decine di piante da due che avevo acquistato anni fa e ora ho tanti cespugli rigogliosi di rosmarino.

Ma io fatto è che ad un certo punto, mi sono accorto che dentro alla cassetta tra il rosmarino vi era una coccinella, ho detto "fermo, aspetta un attimo", ho preso la coccinella in mano e l'ho fatta vedere sia a mio padre che mia madre, dicendogli guardate bene questa coccinella, ormai è diventata rara perché oggi giorno troviamo solamente le Coccinelle Arlecchino, quelle asiatiche che sono più resistenti e hanno preso il sopravvento sulle nostre Coccinelle Comuni.
Common Ladybugs are becoming increasingly rare, because they are being exterminated by pesticides from industrial crops, as is also the case with poor bees, another insect friend of man who is suffering the consequences of an unhealthy world.
It is an animal to be carefully preserved, because it is our greatest ally in nature, it attacks and feeds on all those parasites, especially aphids that attack our fruit plants and our vegetables. We can distinguish the Common one from the Harlequin one (with variegated colours), because the Common one is only red or orange and has 7 black dots, always only 7, three symmetrical on both wings and one on the back divided between the two wings.
Le Coccinelle comuni stanno diventando sempre più rare, perchè vengono sterminate dai pesticidi delle coltivazioni industriali, come succede anche alle povere api, un altro insetto amico dell'uomo che sta subendo le conseguenze di un mondo malsano.
È un animale da preservare con cura, perché è il nostro più grande alleato in natura, attacca e si nutre di tutti quei parassiti, soprattutto afidi che attaccano le nostre piante da frutto e i nostri ortaggi. Riusciamo a distinguere quella Comune da quella Arlecchino (dalle variegate colorazioni), perchè la Comune è solo di colore rosso o arancione e presenta 7 punti neri, sempre solo 7, tre simmetrici sulle entrambe le ali e uno nel dorso diviso tra le due ali.

In coltivazione biologica è il più potente aiuto che si può avere nel combattere parassiti, tanto che le coccinelle vengono allevate e vendute sia in larve che in forma adulta, per venire poi rilasciate in grande quantità sulle coltivazioni biologiche. Non recano alcun danno alle piante coltivate, perchè sono unicamente carnivore e predatrici, mentre si nutrono di tutti quegli insetti che attaccano le nostre piante, come gli afidi, quei piccolissimi insetti neri o bianche che si vedono ammassati sulle foglie e le fanno arricciare, ne succhiano la linfa e con il tempo indeboliscono la pianta impedendo la fotosintesi e se non viene curata in qualche modo, può portare la pianta alla morte o sicuramente a non produrre frutti o ortaggi.
That's why every time I find a ladybug, I collect it and place it on one of my plants, hoping it likes its new home and stays to protect my plant. Today I put it in my lemon tree, probably now that it's getting colder it will go looking for a warm place, but who knows, maybe it will come back this spring to visit me.
Per questo ogni volta che trovo una coccinella, la raccolgo e la depongo in una delle mie piante, sperando che gli piaccia la sua nuova casa e rimanga a proteggere la mia pianta. Oggi l'ho messa nella mia pianta di limoni, probabilmente ora che si fa sempre più freddo andrà a cercare un posto al caldo, ma chissà, magari tornerà questa primavera a trovarmi.
