Kidundu church
Age is not only a number but it defines a period of time. Spelling a century may only take seconds but living a century takes a lifetime. This church, however, has lived more than a century. Yet it stands maginificently at Kidundu in Vihiga county, Kenya. There was a time it boasted to be the biggest church.
This church of Friends Church Quakers in Kenya is unique in itscown way. Its measurement is slightly like a football pitch. It has four pouches and a tall minaret. When John Fox formed the Friends Church in Kenya, this church was constructed.

Today as I was heading to my church, I passed this church and the temptation to take this image was irresistable. I stole some snaps so fast. Not that they deny taking photos, but I was smelling a rat taking images of a church that is not yours.
So today was Sunday! As we brace for a good sermon, we also brace for good photos. I vote for this church. It raises fond memories in my heart.

This church was built by my grandfather who I never saw. I was born long after he had passed on. Yet we used to come to this church during Christmas time. Here we sang Christmas carols and recited verses about the birth of Jesus Christ. We used to compete and winners were awarded with benches. We sang our hearts out as we celebrated the win. The bench was carried high. Those are fond memories. By then we could meet friends from all over. By then we were members of this church.
We used to come again on 31st of December. This time we were competing in musical compoditions and choirs. We sang our hearts out. Yet it seems adjudicators were favoring some choirs. Madzuu Salvation army used to carry the winning trophies all the time.

One day, we decided to corner them up to give them a beating. I do not want to remember that day. The hunter became the hunted. Those choir members turned rogues and beat us square. Do not assume a sweet singing person is weak. They not only beat us but killed James. James was a giant of a man and our celebrated hero. Yet they stoned him to death. My memories picture him lying prostrate in a pool of blood. He was silent, dead.
Kidundu friends church has very diversified memories. I had just tempted to take an image. Am sure my grandchildren will love this church too. Yet their memories will not match ours. They might see ruins of this great church.
