Having the ability to "access private and sensitive data of individuals" is not exclusive to Huawei devices. Virtually any mobile phone today can easily do, and often does, the exact same thing. How that info is being used (if at all) is the real issue.

As for Huawei in particular, I suspect that the company is just being singled out by the Feds, not to mention of course, that it it is a Chinese company, and very few truly trust the Chinese, primarily because of the country's refusal to acknowledge IP rights (patents, trademarks and copyrights).
