Let's not forget also, that here in the West (The USA and Canada), we also have both Thanksgiving and Boxing Day, with their respective Black Friday and Boxing Day sales. And while those days may not be so much about buying gifts for others, as buying things for ourselves, they are perhaps the two biggest retail shopping events of the year.
