For some people, you must had been in that place where you had several other people fighting for relevance or trying to gain a sense of importance from others. Its not bad that one strive to be this way but the truth people don't always tend to accept is the fact that for you to become relevant, there are steps you must take which others might not want to take those steps.
WHAT IS RELEVANCE?
According to cambridge dictionary

relevance is the degree to which something is related or useful to what is happening or being talked about

But I'll add to this by saying relevance is giving all you've got, going all out and striving to get the matter at hand accomplished irrespective of the adverse conditions.

Ever wondered why some people cannot just be neglected in a system? I mean the adminstration hold them in high esteem? Things and steps cannot be taken without them? Yes it's that way because they always have something to offer in every project that's at hand.
Been comfortable in a place where things are happening without your input simple means you're losing relevance.

Relevance is a fight, you earn it by giving all you've got in support of the matter at hand

TO STAY RELEVANT, YOU HAVE TO TAKE THESE FEW FACTORS INTO CONSIDERATION

• Don't give excuses when given a task, go all out and ensure that all that you've been entrusted with is accomplish
• Give all that you have (time and resources) to that which is urgent and needs due attention..
• Look out for a human need and meet the need(This is the true definition of success)
• Fight to stay humble(Pride goes before a fall)
• Give reference to your superiors(There's no respect without reference)

Be that one person that when you're in a team, the others will always draw inspiration from you. Be a blessing, consolation and a benchmark for others.
Remember, we earn relevance not by doing what is appropriate for us to do but rather relevance is earned by always doing that right thing we ought to always do.
