Do you own a dream catcher?
It is said that if you hang a dream catcher above your bed, you will have only good dreams!
Many people believe that the air is filled with dreams, both good and bad. Dream catchers hold bad dreams and let the good ones flow down the feathers to the person that sleeps below.
I’ve seen many dream catchers designs. Some have holes in the middle, that let the good dreams pass by, while others have a stone in the middle that either collects all the bad dreams, or maybe represent the spider itself. 🕷
Whatever the theory, the fact is that dream catchers are beautiful and don’t do any harm. They prevent nightmares, so they are awesome in my opinion. Anyways, in my culture spiders are good elements, heralds, not creepy creatures, I like them a lot!
Did you know?
Dream catchers have originated from American Indians. The legend says that a mysterious ‘Spider Woman’, was the protector of the children. As the tribe grew, it became more difficult to watch over all of them, so she created the dream catcher to protect them.
The original dream catcher was made of a small willow hoop covered in leather, with a net in the middle made of natural fibers, and some feathers, beads or shells at the bottom.
Today they come in a many different colors and types. Here are two dream catchers I recently made. I used cotton thread, wooden beads and hand dyed feathers. The bead in the middle represents the spider who created the beautiful web. 🕸
My Conclusion: Dream catchers are beautiful protectors and also represent good energy. Why not hang one above your head?
Sweet dreams!
