Two years ago I've discovered chinese webnovels. Martial arts novels, with hundreds and hundreds of chapters, a lot of characters and fun. In the past two years reading these novels was my main form of entertainment.

These novels are part of the wuxia genre. From Wikipedia: Wuxia, which literally means "martial heroes", is a genre of Chinese fiction concerning the adventures of martial artists in ancient China. I didn't got bored with them and there are a lot you can choose from. The english market is growing with more and more novels getting translated.

I'm a student of life and learning is an activity we do every day. I've learned some lessons reading these novels. Here are some of them:

1)Patience and hard work are rewarded

There are fantasy martials arts novels. This includes a lot of powers and a lot of training. Only by having patience and working hard everyday, the heroes are able to level up and gain more power. Only by working hard they get to gain fame. Without them, they are doomed.

2)Understand the world around you

Being written by Chinese authors, these novels refer a lot to the Dao(or Tao) teachings. There are many instances when the hero of the novel gets inspired by nature, by a gust of wind or by a peak of the mountain. By studying the world around them they get to understand the laws. By understanding the laws of the world, they get more knowledge, hence more power and they level up.

3)Set goals that seems hard to achieve

Every hero wants to be the best. Most of these novels have various degrees of power level through which every hero has to progress. Without having goals, they don't have any motivation to train or to do great things. Only by having goals you can go out and achieve them.

4)Make friends that will help you to achieve your goals.

Nobody managed to achieve success alone. You have to build friendships, find mentors and people that will support you in your journey. Without the people around us we are doomed to perish, because nobody can live alone. Human society is built by our connections. And we have to keep the right people that will help us to go to the next level.

5)Hard Resolution. Don't stray from your path that you set aside.

Don't give up from the first fail. Go and try again. If you've fall go back up. If people are mocking you, ignore them. You know that with patience and hard work you will achieve what you want. It's says so at point 1. Without a strong resolution and a strong heart, you will never manage to stand up against the temptations. The temptations are at every corner, but you know what your goals are. And you will achieve them.

Great lessons aren't they? What do you think? Can you become the hero of your story? Are these lessons applicable in real life, not only in stories? Let me know in the comments.
