One thing my gold coins have that my silver coins don’t, are cases. A case for a 1 ounce silver coin comes to around 5% the price of the coin. I do not find that logical, so I leave my coins in their sleeves until I can max out a tube of coins.
But when it comes to gold I have no problem buying a capsule. Sometimes they even come with the capsule at no extra cost. (Who doesn’t love free things?)
The smallest is the 0.1 ounce. By far, this has the highest premium. Meaning if I buy 10 of them I will be paying more than buying just one 1 ounce coin. But, I like to have different sizes. I was having trouble finding the right case for this. The one in the picture above is in the right capsule but the other 0.1 ounce cases left too much room between the edges of the coin and the inside of the ring, making the coin shake and jiggle easily. This won’t damage the coin but will make a nice jingle when you move it.
The coin next to it is sometimes hard to find at a good price. It is the 0.25 ounce canadian maple leaf, the bigger brother of the 0.1 ounce canadian maple leaf. But fortunately I have a few places that still have stock for this coin at good prices so I am not worried about not being able to find this.
Now for big papa, the daddy 1 ounce canadian maple leaf. A staple in all gold stacks. Probably one of the most recognizable and fungible 9999 purity gold coin you can get your hands on. This coin is slowly getting harder to find but luckily with the 2022 models shipping this week you won’t have that much trouble finding these.
So, what is the missing coin. Well, its the 0.5 ounce canadian maple leaf. This coin is by far the hardest coin for me to find at a decent price. But, I finally found it. I am just waiting for my trusty “gut feeling” to tell me when is the right time to buy this and boom, it will reunite with the other sized maple leaf coins.
What gold will I be looking into after that? Well, you will have to see, but just a little hint……… its 99999 purity.
