I realized that I don't have a favorite book, but instead I have several books that I like by a single writer. So I'm going to expand this week's topic a bit and I'm going to talk about why I like Paulo Coelho's books.
Whether you are reading The Pilgrimage, The Alchemist, or Aleph, Paulo Coelho has the ability to make you see and feel what he is writing. His books have a way of narrating the stories that surround you and make you immerse yourself in them from beginning to end.
I like his stories because they teach you something new every time you read them, or rather, every time I read them they teach me something new about myself and make me question other parts of myself and the beliefs I have about something.
Like, for example, in Veronika decides to die, he addresses the issue of suicide and made me face my own fears about death. Or in The Zahir, which addresses the issue of a failed marriage and infidelity, that made me think about how I would like my relationships to be and, above all, what I would be willing to do for that person I say I love.
Anyway, his books have been with me since I can remember and I like the way they make me feel and see the world.
