Creating a new blockchain isn't exactly trivial, but most people forget that it's the governance that is really hard to get right. This is why the older chains (BTC, ETH) are proving to be the most resilient, because their governance, while far from perfect, is orders of magnitudes better than any of those who would try to steal the crown.
