My 100th post: Will the quest for power ever come to an end?
I'm angry and sad. Everyone in Venezuela, including myself, are in a constant state of depression. We are all waiting for something that might never happen. Politicians stab each other to get a seat in power, and what do we get? We eat shit.
Shit at all times of the day. Inflation is merciless; workdays go by as if they were hours instead of weeks. Months of salary go to waste if you need to buy the simplest appliance or need to have a single tire changed. That's socialism in a nutshell. But let's go deeper.
The world is evil
We, humans, have come a long way, but we are still far from achieving that ideal peace. We can only yearn for solidarity and fraternity. Hundreds of different races and dozens of religions, all struggling to control those who are yet to wake up and see the real world as it is: A constant struggle for power.
We need power. Feeling powerless is disgusting. People step over you and make you feel minimal. We want money, reputation, well-being, and fame. Sometimes we desire them not out of sheer ego, but to feel empowered about our own situation; in the rest of cases yes, it is ego and egoism.
You may think: "Money is evil, be spiritual instead." But I invite you to come to live in a place where food is scarce and water service is almost non-existent, where you may get kidnapped or robbed at any time of the day without cops or a judiciary system to resort to and you will change your mind.
"Maldito Maduro" is often heard over here. Curse Maduro, curse him and his evil intent on sucking out our lifeforce.
One may earn power through "good" and "lawful" acts, but when instead we do so by taking advantage of others and by being selfish, we are committing a crime against life itself. That is what I call "evil."
Perhaps that's nature
Perhaps that's how it is meant to be. Perhaps we are destined to kill each other for all eternity; until violence alongside technology evolve to a point where classic warfare is obsolete, when better and more purposeful ideas can inherently defeat others which lean towards egotistical goals.
Could it be that warfare may at some point evolve so it can prescind from violence?
Until the humane quest for political and economic power remains, it is not possible.
Let's go deeper.
If we forget that others may step over us, all that is left is the power of choice. Quantum mechanics is based on probability. 0 means no chance while 1 means absolute certainty. There might be a 0.166 chance that you decide to eat that cupcake tomorrow, or a 0.96 chance that your boss will not be amiable during the day. In any case, there is always some degree of choice. We can invoke the will to do things differently.
Make the right choice. Always. It is not easy by any means; we have so many obstacles, including childhood traumas, bad experiences, wrongful beliefs. But we are always able to make a sound choice, we can always try to do our best, then try again if we find out that we're wrong. It requires being humble.
Love.
Love is what allows us to break free from the quest for power.
