Introduction

Good day, Splinterlands! It's time again for Splinterlands' SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! RIVER NYMPH. I would like to share to you guys one of my battles using River Nymph. This monster is a must have in your deck even at level 1 only. This card may not have a good deal of magic attack but its ability at level 1 is very crucial when dealing with battles that has Noxious Fumes ruleset. How did I used River Nymph to win? Let's look at it.

Here is a quick rundown of RIVER NYMPH stats.

RIVER NYMPH
Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: RARE
Element: WATER
Attack: MAGIC
Abilities: CLEANSE AT LEVEL 1, AMPLIFY AT LEVEL 4, SWIFTNESS AT LEVEL 8

LORE

River Nymphs inhabit the rivers of the Splinterlands. Shy and reclusive, they usually remain hidden beneath the water's surface. However, they have a strong respect for life, and they have been known to aid those in need. They are also fiercely protective of their homes and will defend it if it is threatened...

Battle Configuration

The Modern Format rulesets for this fight are Explosive Weaponry and Noxious Fumes and the maximum amount of mana allowed is 21. All elements are available except Life. This battle is a perfect opportunity to use River Nymph because its Cleanse ability will remove the effect of poison on the monster in the first position of my line up. And that is Diemonshark. I used Kelya Frendul as my summoner to provide shield to allied monsters to protect them from Blast effect. My monster in the first position is the Diemonshark which will be my main attacker also. I used Venator Kinjo in my second position to nullify the effect of Blast when the enemy attack my Diemonshark. My monster in the third position is the River Nymph. Its Cleanse will support Diemonshark by removing the effect of poison. However, its Amplify ability was not very effective in this battle because it only amplify the return damage from Thorns, Return Fire and Magic Reflect. My monster in the fourth position is the Angelic Mandarin. This is the reason why I used Venator Kinjo instead of Tide Biter, to save mana for Angelic Mandarin. I want to use its Triage ability to heal the damage from poison. Lastly, I put Torrent Fiend in the last position as filler and to also absorb damage from monsters with Sneak ability.

  • Explosive Weaponry: All Monsters have the Blast ability. The best strategy is to have fast monsters with Snipe, Sneak, Opportunity. For defense, Shield and Void will come in handy. Splintercards Explosive Weaponry Ruleset.
  • Noxious Fumes: All Monsters start the battle Poisoned. Higher HP and cleanse are the best choise. However there may be some cases where you go for a big offensive attack and wipe out your opponent before the poison becomes a factor. Splintercards Noxious Fumes Ruleset.

Let's Battle!

The opponent also used Kelya Frendul as the summoner but surprisingly, the opponent did not use River Nymph. Now I think I have an advantage already. But the opponent also used Tide Hunter and Deeplurker. Maybe the opponent is thinking of ending the game quickly without relying to Cleanse or Heal and focusing on increasing damage output. In the 13th turn of Round 1, River Nymph cleansed the poison effect on Diemonshark.

However, its magic attack has no damage to opponent Djinn Oshannus because of its Void ability.

In Round 2, Poison left my River Nymph with 1 HP only. But in return, my Diemonshark was not damaged by poison, thanks to River Nymph's Cleanse.

The battle continued and the enemy Deeplurker and Tide Biter's attack on my Diemonshark missed. And at the same time, Angelic Mandarin is healing itself from Blast and Poison damage. And that concludes the battle.

My Takeaway in using River Nymph

Based on this battle, River Nymph may not have inflicted damage to the enemy but was able to support my Diemonshark by removing the effect of Poison. And that alone is a huge contribution to win this battle. For my future battles with River Nymph, I would love to see how its Amplify works.
