What makes you a sound teacher.

Generally, there are certain qualities that make you a sound teacher. Most times, it does not depend on those that pass through teachers training. I understand the fact that passing through teachers training is the bedrock of becoming an effective teacher but this is most relevant in the primary and post primary level of education.

A survey in most universities in Nigeria today shows that there are good lecturers, who doesn’t have that educational qualification but they are doing great. Your line of carrier contributes effectively to your performance.

A lecturer with the following qualification is expected to do well in the field of computer science.

Bsc Computer science
Msc Information Communication Technology
Phd Internet

If you look at what have there, there is a strong relationship which is leading to expertise. If look at it critically, you will agree with me that computer science is the father, ICT is the son while internet is the grandson.

Having discussed the carrier path, the following qualities must found in a teacher who really wants to make an impact.

1. You must be the learning mediator: In simple terms you are expected to be the television your students are watching. There is no magic about this, constant research and studying gives you an edge over your colleagues.
2. You must be in charge: There is no room for laxity the class belongs to you and you expected to possess the skills so as to manage your class properly.
3. You must be a disciplinarian: if you don’t do this, your students will take you for granted. You are expected to correct at all times and you must also live by example for your correction to be effective.
4. Always update yourself and be current: the internet is an exceptional tool to achieve this. Try and make good use of it.
