I’m thinking it had some sort of fault in the panel before the fuses. That 480v service kept pumping the juice to it, treating it as load. What’s crazy is that secondary fault tripped a breaker on the main line. I’m gonna check the fuses on the UG transformer on Monday. I would be surprised if they weren’t blown.
