Ethereum Rebranding

The Ethereum Foundation is no longer using the terms “Ethereum 1.0” and “Ethereum 2.0.”
Ethereum 1.0 is now the execution layer and Ethereum 2.0 is the consensus layer.

Is this an attempt of The Ethereum Foundation to prevent a possible split of the chain when POS goes fully live?
