Shamans have always been immensely stimulating for my thought, as they deliver an understanding about the highest possibilities for my inner life. The ability to live at the edge that divides the two worlds of psychic experience, to jump between the oneiric and the material world, is very central to heal our worst problems as societies and individuals.
But the feature that most catches me from the shamanic affair is that it implies a spirituality firmly based on the direct experiences of every individual, that enjoys the opportunity to sustain a personalized spirituality, tailored to his needs and traits as a practitioner along the flow of his own conscience, his independence and creativity, completely free of dogmas.
That seems even more important when I see our world full of charlatans and manipulators, that use institutionalized religions to exploit people. In front of that, my standing is to encourage the reclaiming of our own spiritual lives by the means already built in our own psyches. That is spiritual autonomism (or spiritual self-governance), which makes part of my philosophical proposal.
I'll be explaining my views and practices on shamanism in coming posts, as part of my series of publications about the philosophical pillars of my work
I've made this character out of a fast sketch I drew some years ago, from an illustration of an alien in some book I don't remember now. Then I developed my own version of the character, but my psyche dragged me to the creation of an ancient mystic in trance.
I used a pencil and a pen to draw my character, and then made some fast color tests with watercolor on several copies of the draft. Later I digitized it and colorized the artwork in Gimp.
He is in an atmosphere of low lights to bring the feeling of easing and chill... and the eyes are the doors to the other worlds where he's living his mystical trance, harvesting knowledge for the sake of the Earth and the healing of humanity.
I'll make publications about shamanism and you could follow me if you desire to get them easily; but meanwhile, if you are interested, you could take a look on this video from a speech of Mckenna about the mindset of shamans that free them from the limitations of culture.
You can share my writings on your social networks and websites; but be so kind as to inform my authorship, as well as the source of the text with a link to my blog.
