Hello, SPIers. Today, we have some fun and look into if we can create a simple game on HIVE.

For the longest time, I have wanted to release a game from SPI but if it's not successful, it would be both time and money-consuming. I wrote a whitepaper and tokenomics for it during COVID, it was a clone of the "top trumps" card game and the game currency was a stable back by HBD. It was beautiful and I even got a thumbs up and positive feedback from Gerber who I shared the whitepaper with. Anyways, that would have been a proper game equal to are better than Splinterlands in playability and big project.

Today, im thinking about how to create a simple no-code game thats interactive that anyone can play for short are long periods of time. Here's something I just thought of as an idea.

I do my thumbnail and title after I write the post, haha.

HIVE Stocks (HS)

Each community/tribe on HIVE can be part of this. Say we start with SPI, LEO and Spinterlands (SPS). There could be 50 but we'll use 3 in this example.

  • We create 3 tokens (HIVE stocks) on hive-engine. HS-SPI, HS-LEO and HP-SPS.
  • We create 1 billion of each token and list them for a 1 week public launch sale at 1 HIVE each
  • We do a presale of 1 week and sell 1000 of each token as an example
  • We take all the HIVE and add it to a holding account hs-bank@hs-bank are something
  • Each Friday, I release a post and this is where the game begins

Each game token (Stock), each week is randomlyish assigned a new HIVE value. In our example, we have 3 tokens that were launched at 1 HIVE each and we collected 3000 HIVE from issuing tokens. Sticking to our example, stocks are assigned new stock values of

HS-SPI = 1.20 HIVE (1.2x1000=1200)
HS-LEO = 0.55 HIVE (0.55x1000=550)
HE-SPS = -1.25 HIVE (1.25x1000=1250)

Just before I release the post, I will cancel all pending buy orders on Hive-Engine. I will create new sell orders to reflect the new prices and also buyback orders to provide full liquidity for players to play the game and trade or sell and exit.

This would be in its simplest form a turn-based game.

This means the house makes a move (changing stock prices once a week) and then the player makes a move (buy/hold/sell). This HIVE stock game would a 1 move a week game giving players lots of time to plan each move.

Using the example above , lets say you invested 30 HIVE, 10 HIVE into each HIVE stock, you could:

Starting with 10X HS-SPI, 10X HS-LEO and 10X HS-SPS

  • Sell your HS-SPI and HS-SPS and lock in 20% and 25% profits. You would finish this move holding 10 HS-LEO with a HIVE profit of 4.5 HIVE
  • Sell your HS-SPI and HS-SPS and use the 24.5 HIVE to buy 44.5 cheap HS-LEO knowing its price will increase at the same time. You would finish this move holding 54.5 HE-LEO
  • Sell your profits in HS-SPI and HS-SPS and use the 4.5 HIVE to buy 8 HS-LEO. You finish this move holding 8.4 HS-SPI, 18 HS-LEO and 8 HS-SPS
  • Sell half your HS-SPI and HS-SPS and use the 12.25 HIVE to buy 22 HS-LEO. You finish this move holding 5 HS-SPS, 32 HS-LEO and 5 HS-SPS
  • Hold everything knowing others will sell HS-SPI and HS-SPS to lock in profits and decrease thier circulating supplies.

There are a hundred ways you can play it based on only 3 stocks. If we had 10-50 HIVE stocks, the gamification would become more complex but still easy to understand.

To add levels to the game

HIVE stocks that are bought back by the house are burned. This means some HIVE stocks will become rare with small amounts in the circulating supply. This would give these HIVE stocks a good chance of having a high valuation at a future date. Using our example above if 50% of HS-SPI were sold at 1.20 HIVE, there would only be 500 left in circulation.

HIVE stocks that are sold by the house are entered into circulation. This means some HIVE stocks will have large amounts of circulating supply. These stocks would be less likely to have a high price valuation quickly. These would see smaller price increases over a longer period of time and as they are bought back and burned, the price would increase accordingly and until its a small circulating token. Using the example above, the house might sell 1000 HS-LEO HIVE stocks at 0.55 HIVE each because the price is cheap and there would be 2000 in circulation (assuming nobody sells @0.55 HIVE)

This gives players a reason to HODL HIVE stocks even when they are in profit knowing others will sell and decrease the circulating supply giving them a better chance of a better return at a later date.

To decrease the circulation of a HIVE stock, the house could offer 1-time deals where players that burn a certain HIVE stock within a certain time and receive X amount of another HIVE stock in return, a new HIVE stock most likely. But you can see that there are plenty of things the house can do to add layers on top. This is just 1 idea, this would help to decrease the circulating supply of highly circulated tokens and replace them with newly minted HIVE stocks. in the backend, it's just swapping HIVE from one HIVE stock to another.

Im starting to really like this idea, im just winging it here but this is how things get started. The gameplay is easy enough to understand, buy low/sell high, reinvest and grow your HIVE stock token stacks.

Hmmm, let's think.......think, think, think

Ok, so every game that is play to earn needs one thing. This 1 thing is fresh money coming in all the time. No new money enters the game, rewards dry up and people stop playing. This new money can be reinvested but ideally, it's comes from new sales. The total hardcap of all HIVE stocks would be fully liquid with updated sell and buyback orders each week.

Using our example above, we have 3 outcomes for the house.

  • MONEY OUT - Players sell to lock in profits.
  • NEUTRAL - Players either hold or sell all or part of holdings of profitable stocks and reinvest into undervalued stocks.
  • MONEY IN - Players buy undervalued HIVE stocks direct from the market with swap.hive from their wallets

We can introduce more new money into the HIVE stock bank by releasing new HIVE stocks. Let's say we add 2 new HIVE stocks, 3spk and hive-engine, HS-SPK and HS-HE.

  • We create these 2 new tokens on HE and release them for a 1 week's public offering at 1 HIVE each.
  • We sell 1000 of each and collect 2000 HIVE in total
  • We could also sell custom Stocks for 100-300 HIVE each and the buyer can name it whatever they want (within reason). Would you buy SSUK stocks? haha

The Result of adding more HIVE stocks - More complexity and layers to the game for players and a bigger HIVE pool to manage. Overall a better game.

Game Complexity

image.png

There are enough communities, tribes, projects and dapps on HIVE to release a new HIVE stock every week for at least a year if we wanted to. If there were 30+ HIVE stocks in play, the complexity would be insane. Insanely fun!!

  • If 3 HIVE stocks were in play, the stock prices would be very volatile because the money is spread between fewer stocks. This results in gameplay that is aggressive short-term moves.
  • If 30 HIVE stocks were in play, the stock prices would be more stable. This would result in gameplay that is more thought out and long-term moves.

There could be levels to this if there were lots of HIVE stocks in play. The great thing is no matter how complex the game becomes, it's still the same basic game for the player that has 3 moves per HIVE stock they hold each week. BUY/HOLD/SELL

More HIVE stocks and complexity add to the gamification massively and more importantly to how one could profit in endless ways.

What do you think?

That's just me. I start out a post to collect ideas and I end up winging a fooking lite whitepaper for a game. baaa-aha.

I got into it there, a little too excited maybe, but when I think about it, it could work. We'd think of a way for SPI to make a small cut but I think the model would be sustainable as long as people played.

All the numbers above are just to show an example, a new MS stock could be released for 0.1 HIVE are whatever instead of 1 HIVE. Each stock could be released at its own price to make it more fun. If we were to release something like this, there would be finer details/ game rules to release but the above I think would be the basis for a good interactive blog-based game.
