When I first started posting nine years ago, Steem was promoted by many of the more successful content creators as a place to make a quick buck. Many users would receive the occasional large payout because of curation groups/bots. That gave them some momentum, but the higher payouts eventually fizzled out. I rarely see that type of promotion any more. Despite that, most of the newer users I’ve encountered do not hang around for long. Most of the people I engage with have been around many years. Then again, I’m not particularly social.
