Thanks for your reply @viruk. I can't quantify the extent Britain would be better after Brexit. There are just too many factors to consider. The types of deals make a huge difference. A 'no deal' Brexit would almost certainly make Britain worse off in the short-run. In the long-run, it depends on a lot of factors. Most countries are part of some type of trade bloc. Purely existing on WTO terms is relatively weak. Britain will need to make deals with other countries and trade blocs. Businesses will need to adjust to new markets and much stiffer competition when trading with European countries.

The conduct of the British parliament has been appalling. I can understand why people would have very little confidence in them. At least if Britain is out of the EU, the people will only need to concern themselves with one appalling Government. The British people also have more opportunities to hold the British Government responsible than the EU Government.

My concern is another referendum. If people are asked to choose between a crappy deal and remaining in the EU, I believe more people would choose the EU. The campaigning for the first referendum was not particularly honest and also appealed to anti-immigrant groups. In the absence of that style of campaigning, the referendum could have easily turned out differently.
