RE: The Power to Own
It is a fear of the unknown. You are right, plenty of people do not fall for it but there are lots of other traps; for example, media propaganda.

RE: The Power to Own
Inflation is another method of taking ownership from someone. It is so easy to create inflation. Banks do it because they can continuously create money at close to zero cost. It's as simple as adding another

RE: The Power to Own
Exactly, we need to work together. Many religions use fear as a control mechanism. Disobey and you will be punished in this world or the afterlife. It works because little is known about the afterlife.

RE: The Power to Own
It is a power game. The few want to control the many. They want to create the impression that they are protecting people's freedom and property. This is so that people are willing to accept this arrangement.

RE: Are we heading for World War 3?
It is difficult. There is a lot of misinformation and censorship clouding the truth.

RE: Are we heading for World War 3?
The information war is very important. Western media treat the war as purely evil Russian aggression and Ukraine as the innocent victim. In reality, it is far more complex. The road to a peace deal is

RE: My Religion: A Mixture of Gnostic Christianity and Personal Pursuit of Knowledge
The world is complex. We will only ever understand a small percentage of it. The rest we either accept it as unknown or draw our own conclusions based on what we think we know.

RE: My Religion: A Mixture of Gnostic Christianity and Personal Pursuit of Knowledge
Religion is taught and practiced rigidly. This can help pull people together under a common faith. Most of the time it is used to control people. It is highly effective because religion is passed down

I think that is a reasonable approach. That way you gain perspective from lots of different angles. People tend to separate religion and science. I believe they have quite a bit in common. For example,

There is plenty of flexibility on views. That provides more incentive to search deeper compared to other religions that are consistent and strict.

RE: What would get me to the ballot box? (Discussion on possible Labour Party proposals)
Here's the sales pitch. "Elections equal democracy". That is far from the truth. Once elected, people loss almost all say in decision-making. Parties cannot be trusted to act in the best interest

No. I ask for a lot. I do not want to vote until votes have real meaning. In the post, I outlined one possible path that would lead me to participate. Other things could happen that could be equally as

RE: What would get me to the ballot box? (Discussion on possible Labour Party proposals)
Are people fundamentally immoral and purely self-serving? Even if that is the case (I do not believe so), a form of natural order can still occur. People will help each other for personal gain. Those who

If you believe in democracy, then you believe the country should be run by the people. Most so-called democracies are run by Governments who are influenced more by big business than the people. I believe

The Labour Party likes to push socialist ideas. This was quite genuine when Jeremy Corbyn was leader. The new leader Keir Starmer will push some of these ideas (they are easy to sell) but to a lesser extent.

Votes don't really matter. Both the main parties play a part in pushing the same agenda. The only differences are what part of the agenda they can more effectively push or if they need to play a controlled
