The quarter final match of the Wimbledon competition played on Court 1 had Kevin Anderson usurp Roger Federer who was heavily regarded as the crowd favourite to move to the next round.

At first, the match didn't look like it would last even longer than two hours when it started as the 8-time champion started out quite early on a good note, racing down to a 2-set lead.

However, a splendid fightback was put up by Anderson, the No. 8 seed, thus sending the match into a decider.

Soon, the set extended well past the hour mark as both players refused to allow even an inch to either one.

However, in what became an astonishing sequence, Anderson pushed on to win 3 games in a row as he served without even conceding a single point.

The 23rd game of the set had Federer slip up, hitting two unforced errors, the first saw him hit long with the back hand, before gong on to miss a short ball on his forehand.

The match, a marathon 5-setter went on to last for about 4 hours and 15 minutes.

The 32 year old Anderson will now face who ever wins in the match between Rafa Nadal and Juan Martin Del Potro.
