Simona Halep upped her game in the French Semi-finals match against Garbine Muguruza, the Spaniard to see her advance through to her third French Open final.

This victory will see her retain her top world number one ranking. The game started with the Romanian starting up with speed in quick time to score 5-0 as there came some wild errors on the part of Muguruza.

The second set saw Muguruza fight back with intensity, breaking through in the third game before encountering a powerful return which forced her into an error.

This thus gave Halep the chance to fight her way back and level up to 4-4.

The ninth game saw Halep in a marathon race to save three break points thus pushing her through to save three break points, and then move on to pile pressure on the third seed.

The world number 1 then seized her chance as she sailed through 0-40 ahead triumphing over Muguruza who blazed a backhand long. The game ended 6-1 6-4.
