This version is a "remake" that condenses elements of the first four films of the original saga (especially parts 1, 2, and 3), presenting a Jason who is faster, more cunning, and more organized than the slow and clumsy version from the earlier films. This makes it a good movie for those watching Friday the 13th for the first time and want a summary of the character himself. I didn't know that Michael Bay is among the producers.
A group of young people travels to a lake in the Crystal Lake woods for a weekend of fun and partying. What they don't know is that the area is famous for a dark legend: decades ago, a boy named Jason Voorhees supposedly drowned due to the negligence of the camp counselors. Years later, his mother, driven mad by grief, went on a killing spree to avenge his death. The plot intertwines with that of a brother (Clay) who arrives in the area desperately searching for his missing sister, and that's where the story goes.
Marcus Nispel, the director of this reboot, consulted on several occasions with Sean S. Cunningham, the producer and director of the original 1980 film, to get his blessing and ensure that the film was faithful to the spirit of the original material.
The movie is good, perfect for watching on Halloween to see a horror cinema icon. It has plenty of "action." As a fan of the genre, I liked it. Some people don't, as with everything. But I thought it was a good remake that adds value and is quite faithful to the original films, giving it a fresh feel even though the movie is now years old.

Lo cual lo hace una pelicula para los que primera vez ven Viernes 13 y se quieren un resumen del personaje en si. No sabía que entre los productores se encuentra Michael Bay.
Un grupo de jóvenes viaja a un lago en el bosque de Crystal Lake para pasar un fin de semana de diversión y fiesta. Lo que ellos no saben es que la zona es famosa por una leyenda negra: décadas atrás, un niño llamado Jason Voorhees se ahogó supuestamente por la negligencia de los monitores del campamento. Años más tarde, su madre, enloquecida por el dolor, se embarcó en una masacre para vengar su muerte. La trama se entrelaza con la de una hermana (Clay) que llega a la zona buscando desesperadamente a su hermana desaparecida y por ahi va la historia.
Marcus Nispel, director de este reboot, consultó en varias ocasiones a Sean S. Cunningham, el productor y director de la película original de 1980, para obtener su bendición y asegurarse de que el film era fiel al espíritu del material original.
Esta buena la pelicula, para verla en Halloween y ver a un icono del cine de terror, bastante "acción", como fan del genero me gusta, hay gente que no le gustsa, como todo. Pero me pareció un buen remake, que le da valor y bastante fiel a las peliculas originales, dandole un aire fresco a pesar que ya la pelicula tiene años de estrenada.
Mi calificación: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 7/10
