A single bee hive has about 50,000 bees.
All the bees were born by the queen alone - there are no simple male and female bees that are mating. The bees are seperated into different groups or types. Each group has a specific job to do.
There are bees to collect honey and bees to contruct the honeycombs and also bees to take care of the eggs and larvae of the queen.
The worker bees usually don't live that long - but the queen can live several years.
The bees usually store the honey for the winter, but the beekeeper normally takes it and exchange the food supply for cheap sugar sirup.
They will sit close together and warm each other on very cold days.
Bees are also very important for the ecosystem - they pollinate lots of flowers and trees and without them the world would certainly not be the same.
