Argument | Argumento

Run is a movie that was released in 2020 and is still on the Netflix platform, if you are a movie buff and you like the thriller genre you have to watch this movie, it kept me sitting from beginning to end. It is about a young teenager who has finished her high school and her greatest illusion is to go to college and become independent, she has applied to several universities, but does not receive the mail confirming admission to any of these houses of study despite being an outstanding student, this makes her suspect that something is interfering and begins to observe the behavior of her mother who is loving and overprotective.

Chloe is starred by (Kiera Allen) who in real life is a young man who can not walk losing the mobility of his legs in adolescence, unlike the character (Chloe) who stopped walking as a child, this is a very curious fact, since from the beginning of the film I was amazed by the agility of this young woman in handling the wheelchair, I found it incredible that she was acting to the point of thinking about the time that this actress would have rehearsed for the character, without knowing that not everything was acting, Kiera Allen is disabled and to act in Run and get the role her mother helped her to record the audition video and this is her first performance in a film, she had previously participated in a short film. The film was directed by Aneesh Chaganty who decided from the beginning that the protagonist had to be a person with a motor disability.

Chloe is an intelligent young girl who had to question the love of her mother, who is an expert manipulator and covers her own feelings and intentions very well, I could feel empathy for this girl, she transmitted me all her pain and desperation, it was hard to believe that her mother did not love her in a healthy way and that instead of helping her to be an independent person she wanted to keep her always with her. The relationship between mother and daughter seemed to be good, there were gestures of affection and understanding, the mother was concerned about stimulating her daughter's knowledge by helping her with homework and mental challenges, she also consoled her when she did not receive correspondence about the universities, up to this point I thought it had been bad luck or some discrimination because of the girl's condition and I discarded that the mother had implications.

Chloe suffered from many things, apart from being disabled she was diabetic and had to take several medicines during the day, so her diet and medication was strictly controlled, but like all young people one day she decided to steal some chocolates and she realized that the bottles of medicine were in her mother's name and not hers, she asked her and she gave her an absurd answer and from there the alarms went off and she began to investigate, This girl had restricted internet access and really had no friends and could not socialize with anyone, she could not call the local pharmacy because that was where her mother received the medication and calling other places would appear on the payment receipt, she wanted to know what the medications were for and the description of what they really looked like, she could no longer trust her mother and that led her to suspect that if she was cheating on the medications she could also be diverting or hiding the correspondence from the universities.

When mom Diane (Sarah Paulson) discovered that her daughter was distrusting her, the real angst began, both one and the other acted out doing things on the sly until it all got out of control, trying to run away from her mother, who was not willing to let her go less with what she had already discovered, not only was she drugging her to keep her sick, but she was hiding even more delicate things, I would like to say more about the movie, but I want you to enjoy it and have the same feeling of wanting to run and not being able to do it.

Opinion | Opini贸n

It is a story that can become real, I felt it very realistic and it had the best protagonists.

The scenes of greater tension and stress now that I know that its protagonist is really disabled makes my skin crawl.

It doesn't have a positive reflective message, it makes you think about how bad attachment can be and the negative things it can drive you to do, its ending is full of revenge and although I would have liked another ending it agrees with the whole plot.

I enjoyed the movie too much, I consider that the truth that is put before your eyes does not lie and I hope that in the future there will be more people with disabilities assuming important roles, that will give a plus to the cinema.

I recommend it, I liked it despite its vindictive ending.
