Having a missing family member is the worst uncertainty that a person can live and more painful is, when it is a child, I think all mothers have that fear when their children are young that they can be lost, this event is always seen from the point of view of adults now well the missing children how they feel, what they do, where they go, how they ask for help. Lion is a biographical film about Australian Saroo Brierley and is based on his non-fictional book A Long Way Home, published in 2013, which tells the story of his life especially in the time where he lost his way home, the film was released in 2016 and I saw it a few days ago.

Saroo was just 5 years old and still did not speak well, he lived in India in extreme poverty with his mom, his older brother and an almost baby sister, to subsist his mother worked carrying stones and Saroo helped her in the day. They were very poor, but they treated each other well, they all loved each other, the mother was loving and attentive to her children.

One day while his mother went to work at night, this scene suggests that she was also a prostitute, but it is not clear, she decided to leave the children alone to take care of each other and it was the moment when the eldest son went out without telling his mother to look for anything he could sell, objects that he found in the terminals, trains and night places, This boy was about 12 years old and was very close to his brother Saroo, well that day Saroo begged for a ride and convinced his older brother that he would help him, they left together, but after a while Saroo was overcome by sleep and fell asleep in his brother's arms so he decided to leave him on a bench at a train station to go alone to check the area, but not before waking him up and asking him to wait for him there.

After a few hours, in the darkness of the night Saroo woke up disoriented and scared, he started to call his brother, but there was no one there and he got on an empty train, he fell asleep again and when he woke up the train had started and he was far from home and with no one to help him. After this scene the whole movie focused on Saroo and the difficulties he had to overcome and circumvent, he spent two days traveling without the train stopping and when it stopped the boy was in Calcutta, a city with millions of people and by the way they spoke a different language than the boy.

Saroo, wandered the streets for several months, went hungry, dangerous, even deceived with the intention of kidnapping, before the authorities realized that he was a lost child, but the system is chaotic and a child who does not speak well, who does not pronounce well where he lives is almost impossible to help him.

During the film I had many mixed emotions, I felt that there was a lot of suspense, drama is the main genre, but you can feel it more intensely after the third part, when he is already an adult and is obsessed with returning home, and here technology plays an important role in his search. It is a film to reflect and thank God for the care and protection and above all to recognize that it is very significant to sow in the first memories of children love, beautiful experiences even if there are economic limitations, this film has a happy and bitter ending, I recommend it, you will be surprised by many things if you decide to see it and if you already saw it tell me what you thought.
