Based on the life story of Tonya Harding, a professional skater, who grew up with economic limitations and mistreatment by her mother, was one of the best skaters in her country, taking her to the 1994 Olympics, being one of the favorites, but her closest competitor suffered an attack by a hired killer that incapacitated her and this makes her the first suspect of this fact, taking away her popularity and leading to the end of her career.

Tonya is the first and only daughter of a young married couple, her mother is domineering, with a possessive character and a high concept of success determining her daughter's figure skating career. The character of the mother is played by Allison Janney who is rude in dealing with others, rude even to ask for a favor, when Tonya was about 3 years old she takes her to a skating rink to enroll her in classes, but the teacher does not accept girls so small, this did not discourage her and insisted demonstrating the skills of her daughter until she was accepted.
As they were a low-income family and it was not easy to make a career in this sport, Tonya's mother put so much pressure on her husband that he decided to abandon them, leaving her in charge of her mother, although the girl did not want to. That made her a provider mother, worsening her character, turning her into an abuser and mistreater, but at the same time she was the main motivator of her daughter and the one who instilled in her to be the best and led her to succeed in skating.
The character of Tonya is played by Margot Robbie, the same actress who made the movie Barbie, here she is shown careless, rebellious, hostile and spoiled, so was Tonya in adolescence, her grades were not good, but in skating she was the best; however, she lost many competitions for her personal presentation, she did not have the bright and colorful dresses nor her makeup or hairstyle were up to par, always being in third place or off the podium.
She grew up with material limitations and suffering from bullying, which made her strong, ordinary and coarse, she had to change her musical tastes and body expression in order to excel in her sport to which she dedicated up to 10 hours a day, she managed to represent the United States in the Olympics, but was disqualified for a problem in which she was involved.
The relationship with her mother was difficult and pushed her to leave home as a teenager, she went to live with her boyfriend and soon after they married they began to mistreat each other and their relationship became toxic with beatings and death threats, it seemed that there was love, but it was not healthy, Several times they separated and returned, the scenes of fights seemed very real and stressful, at the same time Tonya reflected innocence in her behavior, she was an abused person since she was a child and deep down she suffered from depression, but when she skated she was the best, the only one, no one could beat her.
Apart from the scenes of family violence the ones that show her skating practices and competition are excellent, I don't know if this actress Margot Robbie learned to do the things Tonya did, I imagine she already knew how to skate because she convinced me to see a professional skater.
This film was made as if it were a documentary through interviews with those involved, Tonya, her family, friends, ex-husband and through the collection of information in the media, they show how difficult it is to build a career, the sacrifice both economic, human and time that must be invested and how easy it is to lose everything by not measuring the consequences of our actions, by a senseless ambition and bad company.
In the end I was sad for her, for Tonya, because she was a victim of her destiny, she was pressured since she was a child to be the best without receiving true love, that's why she only attracted bad treatment and the success she worked so hard for got out of her hands when she was so close to it.
Tonya es la primera y 煤nica hija de un matrimonio joven, su madre es dominante, con un car谩cter posesivo y un alto concepto del 茅xito determinante en la carrera de patinaje art铆stico de su hija. El personaje de la madre es interpretado por Allison Janney que se muestra grosera en el trato con los dem谩s, descort茅s hasta para pedir un favor, cuando Tonya ten铆a unos 3 a帽os la lleva a una pista de patinaje para inscribirla en clases, pero la profesora no acepta ni帽as tan peque帽as, esto no la desmotivo e insisti贸 demostrando las habilidades de su hija hasta que fue aceptada.
Como eran una familia de bajos recursos y no era f谩cil hacer carrera en este deporte, la madre de Tonya presion贸 tanto a su esposo que este decidi贸 abandonarlas, dej谩ndola a cargo de su madre, aunque la ni帽a no quer铆a. Eso la hizo una madre proveedora, empeorando su car谩cter, convirti茅ndola en una abusadora y maltratadora, pero que a su vez era la principal motivadora de su hija y la que le inculc贸 ser la mejor y la llevo a tener 茅xito en el patinaje.
El personaje de Tonya es protagonizado por Margot Robbie la misma actriz qu茅 realiz贸 la pel铆cula Barbie, aqu铆 se muestra descuidada, rebelde, hostil y malcriada, as铆 era Tonya en la adolescencia, sus calificaciones no eran buenas, pero en el patinaje era la mejor; sin embargo, perdi贸 muchas competencias por su presentaci贸n personal, no ten铆a los vestidos brillantes y coloridos ni su maquillaje o peinado estaban a la altura, quedando siempre en el tercer lugar o fuera del podium.
Ella creci贸 con limitaciones materiales y sufriendo de bullying, lo que la hizo fuerte, ordinaria y tosca, le toco cambiar sus gustos musicales y expresi贸n corporal para poder destacar en su deporte al que le dedicaba hasta 10 horas al d铆a, logr贸 representar a los estados unidos en las olimpiadas, pero fue descalificada por un problema en el que se vio involucrada.
La relaci贸n con su madre fue dif铆cil y la impulso para irse de su casa siendo una adolescente, se fue a vivir con su novio y al poco tiempo de que se casaron comenzaron a maltratarse y su relaci贸n se volvi贸 t贸xica con golpes y amenazas de muerte, parec铆a que hab铆a amor, pero no era sano, varias veces se separaron y volv铆an, las escenas de peleas me parecieron muy reales y estresantes, al mismo tiempo Tonya reflejaba inocencia en su proceder, era una persona maltrata desde peque帽a y en el fondo sufr铆a de depresi贸n, pero cuando patinaba era la mejor, la 煤nica, nadie pod铆a vencerla.
Aparte de las escenas de violencia familiar las que muestran sus pr谩cticas y competencia de patinaje son excelentes, no s茅 si esta actriz Margot Robbie aprendi贸 hacer las cosas que hac铆a Tonya, me imagino que ya sab铆a patinar porque me convenci贸 de ver una patinadora profesional.
Esta pel铆cula la realizaron como si fuera un documental a trav茅s de las entrevistas a los mismos involucrados, Tonya, sus familiares, amigos, exesposo y a trav茅s de la recolecci贸n de informaci贸n en los medios de comunicaci贸n, muestran lo dif铆cil que es construir una carrera, el sacrificio tanto econ贸mico, humanos y de tiempo que hay que invertir y lo f谩cil que se puede perder todo por no medir las consecuencias de nuestros actos, por una ambici贸n sin sentido y por las malas compa帽铆as.
Al final quede triste por ella, por Tonya, ya que fue v铆ctima de su destino, fue presionada desde ni帽a a ser la mejor sin recibir amor verdadero, por eso solo atra铆a malos tratos y el 茅xito por el que tanto trabajo se le fue de las manos teni茅ndolo tan cerca.
