Hey Gamers and Game Lovers,

Welcome to my blog, where I enjoy discussing games, my experiences playing them, and anything related to the gaming world.

Today, I decided to test my fighting skills by diving into the Mortal Kombat towers online. For anyone who has not played Mortal Kombat in a while, the towers is a tournament where you fight one opponent, and if you win, you move on to the next round. It is designed like a ladder; as you win, you move up the chain, but as you move up the chain, it gets harder because you face tougher players.

I started the tournament with my usual character, Scorpion. He is fast and deadly, and there is something simple about his controls for me when using him. Then my fight was against Baraka. Baraka has always been a tricky character to use due to the sharp objects that emerge from his hands, similar to Wolverine, but with only one per hand. I went in strong, but before I knew it, I was knocked out of the first round, super fast, as if moves were not fast enough. It was not over; I actually lost to him twice before finally getting to win on my third attempt. That victory was not long-lived as the next challenge came with a tougher skin.

What made it even weirder was that after beating me silly in the match-up, Baraka offered “Friendship” at the end. Imagine losing to a monster with deadly blades and having been whopped silly with fatalities of different kinds, and then the word FRIENDSHIP floats out of their mouth. I couldn’t help but laugh. It was so weird, yet so funny, and honestly, it made the defeat feel a little bit less painful.

After finally pushing past Baraka after a couple of tries, it felt like I had some momentum. The next round was against Frost. If Baraka was tough, Frost was a tougher female fighter. Her attacks came fast, and before I could fully adjust, I found myself frozen, slashed, and wrapped up in combos I did not expect. I tried to fight back, but she was too fast for my outdated moves and tricks.

Although I did not go far in the tournament, the experience was relaxing for me. Every fight was simply a test of my skill against other players. You have to defeat your opponent's moves and be fast while doing it as well. Block strikes and attack when you get an opening, but importantly, knowing when to time your fatality to avoid wasting it.

I am looking forward to the weekend, because that is when my true gaming comes alive, thanks to the gaming weekend. This Friday will start with a Hivechess tournament organized by stayoutoftherz@stayoutoftherz. For more details, read this post:

This Friday a Hivechess fun tournament is played - join and win 5 Hive!

I usually start with chess because it is a weekend opener and it is Hive-organized. Saturday is another day for more chess. The more the better, soon my chess will be way stronger than I hoped for. That is why I play these Hive chess tournaments. It is filled with stronger players, and when you play consistently with them, your play improves as well.

Even if I was whopped silly in Mortal Kombat, I will be back later on for more, hopefully this weekend, I am not so sure yet. The towers aren’t going anywhere, and neither am I. Probably next weekend, I will try climbing the towers again, one fight at a time, with Scorpion or Sub-zero for a change, leading the way.

I am southgamer@southgamer. Try gaming and thank me later
