Young people often say that old people like to talk about the past. These words made me insecure to tell. Thinking about it, everyone must be old and must have stories in the past. Except these who died before getting old , right?
So today i’ll tell about the past in retirement.
I was a teacher at Udonpitchairak school, in Udon Province. Its a secondary school with 3200 students and 125 teachers. In 2019, there were 11 retired teachers including me. That year was the year i had two feelings. The first was i regret working and i felt like i’ll free soon. I finally made up my mind and accepted that I was old for teaching. 🙂Every schools in Thailand must organise a farewell
party of retirees with dignity. (Thai ‘s tradition)
In the morning , the ceremony was for teachers to say goodbye to students, followed by Su Khan ( Thai blessing ) ceremony. Teachers from different departments were join at the flag and they gave gifts to retirees . Students performed 2 sets of dances , which made us unable to hold of tears. After that we said goodbye and thanked them.
At night there was a farewell party. The board of directors of education institutes attended the event. The party was filled with warmth and love. Farewell to the things we love. It made me miss but everything has its time. Life must go on. Retired fro work but life is not retired. 🙂
