It is really sad day for Electro Dance Music fans all over the world. Swedish music producer and DJ, Avicii, has died today at the age of 28. His publicist Diana Baron said in a statement that:
He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.
Avicii has started releasing music on Laidbck Luke's forum in the late '00s. He broke through to people from all over the world in 2011 with his progressive house track called Levels. This track was hit No. 1 in Sweden and on the U.S. Billboard. It also earned him the Grammy Award.
Tim Bergling has released his debut studio album called True in 2013. I think that everyone knows one track from that album... Wake Me Up! He basically has combined EDM, folk and country music; the song became No.1 hit in many countries and achieved 4th place on the Billboard Hot 100.
Stories is his second studio album, it was released in 2015 and featured vocals from Robbie Williams, Gavin DeGraw and more. I think that everyone can remember Waiting For Love from this one.
The EP Avīci (01) was released in August 2017 and it featured track called Lonely Together which was his collaboration with Rita Ora.
Everyone has known for years that Evicii had problems with his health for several years. Due to excessive drinking, he suffered from pancreatitis. He cancelled a lot of shows to recover after they removed his gallbladder and appendix.
Avicii decided to retire from touring entirely by writing an emotional letter to his fans; fragments of it:
My path has been filled with success but it hasn’t come without its bumps. I’ve become an adult while growing as an artist, I’ve come to know myself better and realize that there’s so much I want to do with my life. I have strong interests in different areas but there’s so little time to explore them
I know I am blessed to be able to travel all around the world and perform, but I have too little left for the life of a real person behind the artist.
I will however never let go of music – I will continue to speak to my fans through it, but I’ve decided this 2016 run will be my last tour and last shows. Let’s make them go out with a bang!
