Who is Prometheus to us today? This god defying rebel gave us Fire, in a literal sense, but also the fire of liberty, art and technology. I think we've grown ungrateful of his sacrifice. "Revolt" nowadays is comprised of signed petitions, twitter activism, swollen amygdala hashtags and corporate marketing, "be a rebel, buy this product". We rebel through our machines only to pacify our inner fire.
Modern society creates a lot of suffering. On this wonderful blue planet, our minds are constantly in flight or fight mode but there are no tigers around, except for the docile ones found in our zoos. Our postmodern tigers are hallucinations, hysterical hyperbole and dependence.
So today, if you can, just take a step back. Take a few minutes to breathe, as deeply as you can. Revolt against your inner demons by staring them in the face and saying "you're no tiger", burn those fuckers down,
and smile.
