Even if it's in logistics, customer service, a race or following though on a goal, the final mile is the toughest and the most important. Is there any way to make the final mile more achievable?
No matter what, it's going to be hard work and you're likely going to have to dig in deeper than you thought to get where you want in the time you want to get there. There's going to be challenges and your going to question if it's worth it or not.
I can't say for certain for anyone else, but this is the crucial point for me where I either accept that it's just something that I have to do because I want to win or accept the disappointment and dissatisfaction of defeat.
Sometimes it's easy to ignore the voice that knows this to be true. These days, I'm doing my very best to lean into the pain a little more by reminding myself how bitter the taste of defeat is at my own hands.
Am I winning? I'd say I'm winning more than I'm losing. To a third party observer, it might not look like I'm winning. What notable achievements do I have that are working in my favor that are easily seen?
To a perfect stranger judging only the action they see, they likely wouldn't think so. After a five minute conversation? I think that would be a much different answer. Somehow, people see, even small steps of action and observe a difference in attitude. While it may create dissidence between those that don't resonate with my personality and attitude, it amplifies so much greater in the positive direction of attracting people that share my attitude and mindset.
Wiring daily has been a huge help in sorting out my thoughts and redirecting inwardly to find where my compass is. My mind feels clearer, sharper and more in tune. My thoughts are less chaotic and my constitution is much stronger and more grounded. Although I wouldn't mind having a drink of whiskey and pounding out since pages one of these days, I'm not really inclined to drink nearly as much. Why?
Metal clarity. Improved drive. Saving money. Physical cost. Will power. Observing others.
I'm not judging anyone for their choices by the way. These are just free flowing thoughts and are a result of an under rested and over stimulated mind. These last couple years have been a hell of a ride and I'm just starting to get a real grip on the 6 inches between my ears. The fact that it's taken 36 years makes me wonder why it's taken this long, but it's not quite algebra and my problem solving process included living a lot of life and taking many different side streets and some rarely traveled trails as well. Some if my choosing and some not.
The final mile was the beginning of this ramble and I somehow ended up on this crazy tangent. I think my subconscious mind is telling me that this focused effort is a good thing and that the final mile is ahead. My muscles will ache and I will feel like I have no more to give, but I've been through far too much to give up on myself or things that are important to me. The final mile is upon me for this stretch of road and it's my resume to take responsibility for it.
Today, I claim the final mile of this road. It's a drag race and and Enduro rolled into one. Time trials are done and the championship is on the line. One moment at a time, I claim the rest of this journey.
If you're reading this, I hope you're on a journey of your own and working your way to a final mile to tackle with everything you have. Any time I've taken that final mile to the end of the road with everything I've had, the last bit's been all heart.
What journey are you on? Where are you headed in this mile of your road? Are you leaning into the turn or approaching the drag strip? Either way, I'm excited for your. Victory is around the corner right through the doubt and worry.
Much love, awesome humans. Don't forget to accelerate though your turns. Tires are meant to be used.
