Yesterday I went to the gym for a climbing session. More and more I'm appreciating these. Not so much because it makes me feel like a badass or because it gives me some sick pythons, but because it helps me feel completely and entirely exhausted at the end of the day.
Seen here, doing something with maximum effort
When I was a lad I read the Outsiders in school. It was a great book, but for some reason the only thing that really stuck with me was the doctor's advice to stop Ponyboy's night terrors: study hard and exercise hard until you're exhausted. And I gotta say, that method keeps me pretty emotionally stable through these dark winter months.
Sometimes I forget that my body is not as durable as it was when I was small, and that I may hurt myself before I reach my goal of post exhaustion bliss. Like when I was doing the move pictured above. I rocketed towards the next hold and over shot it. I bruised my fingernail and got my first flapper as a result.
At least now I get to gross some kids out.
