Today the gang went all the way to the start of the Juan de Fuca trail, which is about 50km northwest of Sooke, BC.
The trail never really stops being sketchy. The amount of moisture they get combined with the amount of vegetation makes for some interesting hiking conditions. Sometimes the only thing you can really trust to step on is a big knarly root.
There's always water running somewhere on the trail, which is handy when you're taking the 5 day route from one end to the other.
There's always a plethora of fungi as well. I managed to get an ok shot of it, but check out @caitycat's blog to seem some Very Good photos of the same mushrooms.
We were so preoccupied with taking pictures along the trail, we never really got to our destination: Mystic Beach. Maybe next time! @flaversham can come too.
