On Sunday I visited the Wildimwest fleamarket in the 3rd district of Vienna. I did not know that next to the Marx Halle there is a huge vastness of urban space that is just sitting there. I went on a little exploration tour and I hope you enjoy coming on another photowalk with me.
For this photowalk I had one challenge, only 35mm optics. That's it, one focal length to rule them all. The wider your angle the closer you have to get to a certain object if you want it to fill your frame. I am a people photographer, at least I consider myself one. However this walk ended up to be a little different. I barely photographed individuals and I think not even one Image made it to the selection where the human is set into the center.
Too much to read? Well let us start with setting the scene.
We are in the third district of Vienna and I really did not know that there is such an urban desert hiding just about 15 minutes from the city's center.
Big emptiness, a huge field of concrete.
How can this even be possible in a city like Vienna?

Wild im West is a nice flea market where you can buy some cool vintage clothing and expensive beer. I mean it! If you plan to come to this super cool place to explore the market stands, make sure to buy your beer (or any other drink) elsewhere!
Very good and diverse music is provided during the 5 hours this market is open. There was a little bit of everything. Some 90ies vibes some very good drum and bass sounds and some reggae too.
After I looked through all the market stands which took me about 1,5-2 hours I went to explore the surroundings. If you scroll back to that map I checked the skatepark and surroundings.
I went to look at urban lines. I don't know if the concept of how I took the images comes through but I tried to focus on lines the buildings the surrounding and the rare plants make in this environment. Let me take you on a walk.
Under the bridge
With different negative and positive spaces.
With a lot of headspace
Or a little curve in the pool.
Or the arch o fstones
Without the trash
Within the pool
Out in the crater that is taken over by nature.
Thank you for taking the time to come with me on the walk!
Make sure to keep smiling!
